RA! was recognized as a finalist at Architectural Digest Mexico's Iconos del Diseño 2023 for TANA, a restaurant in Polanco, Mexico City. TANA’s design brings together raw materials and spatial ingenuity. By removing the existing finishes, the team revealed a high, four-meter ceiling, which created a cave-like atmosphere. This discovery led to a design that blends rustic elements with a refined feel, described as both "bold and well-considered."
At the center of the space, the square bar with its inverted pyramid design stands as the focal point. Clad in hand-chiseled concrete, the bar is complemented by a copper plate handcrafted in Michoacán. This plate, seen as "a symbol of ceremony," enhances the role of the mixologist, making the bar experience a more interactive event.
The jury appreciated RA!’s "thoughtful use of materials" and the way the design "redefines social interaction" within a restaurant. TANA reflects the studio’s commitment to combining artistry with functionality, positioning it as one of the year's noteworthy projects and contributing to the ongoing dialogue of architecture in Latin America.

El diseño de TANA fusiona materiales crudos con una planificación espacial ingeniosa. Al eliminar los acabados existentes, el equipo descubrió una altura de cuatro metros, creando una atmósfera similar a una caverna. Este hallazgo dio lugar a un diseño que combina elementos rústicos con un toque refinado, descrito como "audaz y bien pensado."
En el centro del espacio, la barra cuadrada con su diseño piramidal invertido es el punto focal. Revestida en concreto labrado a mano, la barra se complementa con un plato de cobre hecho a mano en Michoacán. Este plato, considerado "un símbolo de ceremonia," realza la experiencia del mixólogo, convirtiendo la barra en un evento más interactivo.
El jurado valoró el "uso reflexivo de los materiales" en el proyecto y cómo el diseño "redefine la interacción social" en un restaurante. TANA refleja el compromiso del estudio de combinar arte con funcionalidad, posicionándose como uno de los proyectos destacados del año y contribuyendo al diálogo sobre la arquitectura en América Latina.
